[Note: The company I work for was recently sold.]

I'm writing to express my deep concern about the imminent change from ABC'S XXX health plan to their YYY plan.

Contrary to the "quick and easy" process of redesignating my primary care provider your original memo led me to expect, the process thus far has been full of frustration and anxiety for me and for my husband. Our primary care provider is not included in the YYY plan. In fact, in our town there are only eight internal medicine specialists available to serve as PCPs, seven of whom operate out of a single clinic, as opposed to 36 practitioners under the XXX plan.

My husband has been working closely with our PCP to diagnose and treat [CONDITION]; he has tests scheduled for April. Two weeks' notice to abort a relationship with a trusted health care provider strikes us both as unacceptably abrupt.

The memo from [HUMAN RESOURCES PERSON] refers to YYY as being "substantially the same as XXX." A brief glance at the overviews of the two plans on ABC's web site clearly indicates the new plan as less comprehensive than the existing one. Aside from the fact that the coverage is more limited, the reduced number of potential primary care providers lessens the likelihood of finding a physician with whom we can form productive relationships.

I would be delighted to learn that I have misinterpreted the implications of this change. At present, it appears that you are substituting a diminished health plan without even acknowledging it as such. This disturbs me greatly, not only because of the immediate negative consequences for my family, but also because it bodes ill for the way the new leadership of [COMPANY] will handle future decisions of this nature.

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Sincerely,

Helene Green
